Rhinoplasty

Otherwise known as a “nose job”.  This is a surgical procedure which can accomplish several goals.

A functional rhinoplasty aims to restore the function of the nose.  Often nasal breathing can become obstructed as a result of trauma, prior surgery or due to the inherent properties of the nasal bones and cartilages.  Functional rhinoplasty aims to open the nasal passageways to allow for improved nasal breathing.

Cosmetic rhinoplasty aims to improve the contour and appearance of the nose.  Experienced and well trained facial plastic surgeons will not compromise the function of nose in the name of achieving a particular look.  Your goals should be discussed in detail with your surgeon to determine if they are possible.  Often facial morphing software can be used to provide an idea of what aesthetic changes are possible given your unique anatomy.

Often form and function go hand in hand.  It is not uncommon for a functional rhinoplasty to be combined with changing the appearance of the nose.  This is highly dependent on your specific goals and will be discussed with you during your initial consultation.
